Children in the system

When Barney Brown was 14 years old, he was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to life without parole. He was exonerated in September, 2008. In this video, Barney talks about the cruelty of children serving time in adult prisons.

  1. Further investigation revealed that Mr. Brown's sentence did not prohibit parole and, in fact, he was paroled in 1983. He was found in violation on a felony charge three months later. Though he was acquitted of that charge, the parole commission relied on the testimony of the victim and the evidence gathered by police to keep Mr. Brown in prison.
